Welcome to Lincoln Yards
Chicago Guide to Lincoln Yards Real Estate
Lincoln Yards represents the birth of a Chicago neighborhood area via metamorphosis. Nestled between the Bucktown and Lincoln Park neighborhoods, surrounding the banks of the North Branch Chicago River, Lincoln Yards is a mixed-use development project by Sterling Bay, a local developer, which when complete, will create a riverfront neighborhood on a more than 50-acre former industrial steel site, offering residences, office spaces, outdoor recreation and a central hub for transportation.

Living in Lincoln Yards
RECREATION • VAST OUTDOOR SPACE • EXTENDED RIVERWALK • MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT
Convenience, numerous amenities, and accessibility to downtown and other Chicago northside neighborhoods are just a few of the factors that make Lincoln Yards and its surrounding residential communities a desirable area for home buyers. Just steps away from the approved $6-billion development site are major food, home and clothing retailers lined along Clybourn Ave and North Ave. The development itself will attract new retailers to the area, which makes quick shopping trips within a short distance from home just one of the benefits of living in Lincoln Yards.
The development is set to add more green space and riverfront access, which lends itself to outdoor recreation like sports, biking, kayaking and picnics. Part of the project aims to extend The 606, an elevated trail, further east to connect Lincoln Yard residents to the western neighborhoods of Bucktown / Wicker Park, Logan Square and Humboldt Park. The plans for the site also entail extending the Chicago Riverwalk from downtown to the Avondale neighborhood on the northwest side in order to make the city’s riverfront more accessible for viewing, transportation and play.
While the residential communities in its vicinity largely favor single family houses or two- and three-story condo buildings, Lincoln Yards will inject more apartment options into the area’s housing inventory, which is a bonus for those who will be looking for apartments to rent in the area. Once completed, the site will offer nearly 6,000 residential units, spread across five districts or zones that the project identifies as North Dominick Corridor, West Riverfront Gateway, Kingsbury Corridor, South Dominick Corridor, and South Riverfront District.
The ambitious feat is also set to provide commercial and office space for businesses seeking more “creative and flexible spaces.” Two such projects are currently underway at 1655 N Throop, a 365,000-square-foot office building, and 1229 W Concord, a space designed with the life sciences and the medical industry in mind, featuring both offices and labs.
Where is Lincoln Yards?
The Lincoln Yards development site sits along the North Branch of the Chicago River between the Bucktown and Lincoln Park neighborhoods. The site is bordered by Webster Avenue to the north and North Ave to the south. On its eastern side is Clybourn Ave and its western edge is the I-90/I-94 Kennedy expressway. The area makes up part of the 60614 zip code and currently falls within the boundaries of Chicago’s 2nd ward.
Lincoln Yards Transportation
Transportation connection is a key feature of the vision and development plan for Lincoln Yards. Already outlined on the west by the Kennedy expressway, Lincoln Yards is also served by the Metra commuter rail line which connects the city to the larger Chicagoland area and also runs along its western edge. The #73 Armitage, #9 Ashland, and #X9 Ashland Express bus routes go through the area, and nearby, public transit commuters have access to the Brown and Purple CTA train lines via the Armitage station.
Sterling Bay, the developers of Lincoln Yards, intend to create a hub, called lync, that will bring together the different transportation lines making it easier to go to and from Lincoln Yards. The proposal also includes plans to build a new Metra station within lync, shuttle services to nearby CTA train lines, and the addition of three water taxi stops along its planned riverwalk expansion.

THOUSANDS OF NEW UNITS • MULTIPLE TOWERS • MODERN DESIGN
Affluence and contemporary design are traits that describe homes near and around the Lincoln Yards site. Residences in the vicinity are largely single family, multi-level brick and stone houses. The homes for sale in Lincoln Park and west Bucktown run upwards of $1 million and feature gorgeous, modern interiors with open floor plans, luxurious chef kitchens, and elevated interior design finishes.
Once complete, Lincoln Yards will provide about 6,000 residential units in its planned towers, ranging in height from six stories to 25 stories. Of these units, about 20 percent of them will be allocated toward affordable housing. In keeping in line with the character of the districts that are outlined in the projects, these units will boast modern, thoughtful designs meant to suit the contemporary, urban lifestyle, complete with in-building amenities like parking, a fitness center, conference or work spaces, and terraces or decks to enjoy views of the park spaces and river.
